ITIL – Information Security Service Management Implementation

IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is an IT service management framework designed to organize a company around services for the customer. ITIL means running IT as a services business where the services, as perceived by a customer, are the #1 driving and aligning force in the organization.

Some organizations are production-computing oriented, and they face back toward the IT infrastructure, with very little focus on the customer. At the other end of the spectrum, there are enterprises that know their customers well and that organize around the idea that they exist to provide a service. They think of themselves as providing a discrete set of services for a discrete set of customers, and have mechanisms in place to manage the quality of that service as perceived by the customers. That is IT service management.
